Go Chargers!

Hooray for the return of Football (and Fantasy Football) season!

It's been awhile

Well, I've definitely been out of commission (in terms of writing) for a couple months now it looks like. July and August definitely came and went ridiculously quickly for a couple of reasons. The first being that we were finally able to get into a house. We've been seriously looking at properties since May and just a couple weeks ago we were able to move into our new home (with the help of some great people)! However, as anyone who has bought a home can attest to this, buying a home is one of the most stressful and time consuming things you can ever do! First, you have to find the house. Once you find the house, you put an offer in on the house. Once you put an offer in, that offer has to get accepted (which ours definitely didn't on the first few houses we liked). Once you have an accepted offer you have to work with the seller, which in the majority of cases now is a bank due to the situation in the real estate market, and an escrow company. For the record, banks are slow. They are very, very slow. Once you work out all the details, and escrow has everything they need from every party, including third parties, like Homeowner's Associations and Lenders -- then, and only then, escrow closes. If you got tired reading about the process, just wait until you live it :)

Anyway, we are completely blessed to be in a new home and are really excited about the room for growth...

That's Just Gross...

My wife and I went to go see the new Indiana Jones movie this past weekend (which could in itself warrant its own post -- but I won't go there. All I have to say is, aliens? Really?). While we were there, there was a couple behind us loaded up with all the concession snacks: popcorn, nachos, sodas, the whole deal. Throughout the movie, kind of off and on, I noticed crunching noises, etc. but nothing too bad (my wife on the other hand cannot stand mouth noises). But that wasn't the worst part. About 3/4 of the way into the movie, the guy behind me sneezes and then I feel my hair move. Now, if that's not gross, I'm not sure what is -- especially considering the fact of how much food he had already put in his mouth... I told you. Gross.

Firefox 3

I just wanted to let everyone know that as of 10am today, Firefox 3 is available for download. They're trying to set a record for the number of downloads in a 24 hour period... so if you get a chance, head over to the site and download it (assuming it's not being overwhelmed with other visitors). Now, if you have no idea what Firefox is, it's just a web browser (like Internet Explorer, but good) and the latest version, Firefox 3, is only adding to the goodness. So, if you've lived in the dark with the Microsoft wool pulled over your eyes until now -- time to switch!

Edit: Here's a link directly to the download page: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/?p=downloadday

News Tuesday - 4/22/08

Since there hasn't been one in awhile:

Microsoft Office Live Workspace Sweepstakes

So, I signed up to use Microsoft Office Live Workspaces -- which is kinda like Google Docs in the sense that it makes your documents available online -- well, kinda. Anyway, I guess I automatically got entered in the associated "sweepstakes" and I won! I got an email (to my junk email address, since I use it to sign up for ANYTHING online) letting me know that I had been chosen as a daily winner... here's what I won:

The Daily Prize is: One (1) 12 pack of 12 ounce cans of Diet Pepsi MAX.
Daily prize to be awarded in the form of a product coupon good for one (1) free 12 pack of 12 ounce cans of Diet Pepsi MAX. Coupon may be redeemed at participating U.S. retailers. Coupon expires July 31, 2008. (Approximate Retail Value "A.R.V." $3.50 each).

Unfortunately, I don't check my junk email account very often, so I didn't redeem it in time. However, I don't really like Diet ANYTHING, so it's all the same to me. Not to mention -- WHY is Microsoft giving away Diet Pepsi MAX as a prize in a sweepstakes?? Odd Indeed.

Wii play games on the Wii

So, I have officially given in and purchased a Wii. And let me tell you, obtaining a Wii is no feat to be brushed off as some easy task. You can't just waltz into your local Stuff*Mart and pick one of these things off the shelf. Two Sundays ago, I woke up and decided -- hey, why don't I check out all of the weekly ads for the local area and see if anyone is advertising the Wii. It turned out that Target had them, and it turns out that target is basically across the street from where I live, so I got in my truck and drove over there -- not to mention the bonus fact that I had a gift card to Target. When I got there, my heart was still rushing because I knew they opened over an hour ago, and the would have a limited quantity available. As I arrived at the electronics department, I noticed a woman purchasing one, with a huge smile on her face, and almost tears of joy as if she had just won a gold medal in the olympics. Anyway, I asked the trusty staffer if they had anymore, and as it turned out they still had three (note: the guy later told me that they started with like 25 about an hour ago)... and after I purchased one, another customer came up to by one -- those things go like hot cakes! On a side note, I forgot to use my gift card in the process.
